Overview
This role is physically based in Kuwait in support of the LOGCAP program.

Under the direction of the Material Maintenance Manager and Technical Inspector Lead, this position is responsible for carrying out initial, in-process, and final inspections on a wide range of military, commercial, and automotive equipment. The role ensures equipment meets required standards before being returned to service, supports maintenance teams with troubleshooting, and applies proper classification of U.S. Government property. The position also utilizes Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) and completes cost and damage assessments to maintain operational readiness.

Role Summary
This position plays a key role in maintaining equipment quality, safety, and compliance across automotive maintenance operations in a challenging operational environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose equipment issues, validate completed repairs, and conduct initial, ongoing, and final inspections, including road testing when required.

  • Escalate unresolved issues to supervisors in line with established procedures and management guidance.

  • Inspect parts and components for compliance with specifications and determine serviceability status, ensuring proper tagging and routing for repair, return to stock, or disposal.

  • Maintain awareness of current maintenance technical data and oversee the accuracy of the technical library.

  • Review maintenance documentation and inspection records, identify trends or recurring issues, and initiate corrective actions.

  • Prepare and review quality, technical, and hazardous material deficiency reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Classify equipment for disposal in accordance with Army regulations and verify condition codes.

  • Conduct ACOD, ECOD, and ECOR assessments and submit required documentation.

  • Identify required materials and initiate work orders to support repairs, fabrication, and deadline equipment.

  • Support and mentor personnel to ensure compliance with internal operating procedures and quality standards.

  • Evaluate staff capabilities, including skills, training, and experience levels.

  • Perform audits and inspections of work centers, maintenance processes, equipment, and facilities.

  • Carry out load testing, equipment testing, and certification activities as required.

  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and enforce daily safety practices.

  • Perform additional qualified duties as assigned to support operational needs.


Qualifications & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; prior military or civilian training in maintenance or supply management is preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in automotive repair, shop operations, or commercial equipment maintenance.

  • At least two (2) years of experience serving as a Technical Inspector.

  • Prior qualification as US Army MOS 63B Wheel Mechanic or equivalent civilian trade experience is preferred.

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License, host nation driver’s license, and Kuwait Heavy Driver’s License.

  • CAC eligibility and ability to obtain a Common Access Card is required.

  • GCSS-Army certification is preferred; training must be completed within 90 days if not already certified.


Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong expertise in automotive repair standards, inspection methods, and corrective actions.

  • Advanced knowledge of technical and commercial maintenance manuals.

  • Proficiency in the use and application of TMDE.

  • Solid understanding of repair parts systems and maintenance documentation processes.

  • Experience with load testing procedures and equipment operations.

  • Ability to inspect, test, and certify a wide range of automotive equipment.

  • Familiarity with GCSS-Army systems is an advantage.


Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions, including temperatures exceeding 120°F.

  • Work may take place indoors or outdoors in harsh desert environments.

  • Medium physical work involving lifting, standing, climbing, and prolonged physical activity.

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in applicable situations.

  • Compliance with all safety, fire, and post regulations is mandatory.
