Role Overview
The Salesforce Commerce Technical Architect is responsible for designing and overseeing scalable, high-performance e-commerce solutions leveraging Salesforce B2B/B2C Commerce Cloud and the broader Salesforce ecosystem. This role acts as the technical authority, translating business requirements into robust architecture, driving delivery excellence, and ensuring long-term platform strategy alignment. The architect supports pre-sales engagements, shapes solution proposals, and partners closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams, and enterprise architects.
This is a hands-on lead role requiring deep expertise in cloud architecture, integrations, security, and commerce capabilities including product catalog management, shopping experience design, and order lifecycle orchestration.
Core Responsibilities
Solution & Platform Architecture
• Architect end-to-end commerce solutions across Salesforce B2B/B2C Commerce, Service, Sales, Order Management, and Experience Cloud.
• Define architecture diagrams, integration patterns, data models, and customization frameworks aligned with best practices and reference architectures.
• Ensure the commerce solution supports omni-channel experience, personalization, and future scalability.
Pre-Sales / Bid Support
• Partner with Bid teams to provide technical input during opportunity pursuit.
• Lead discovery sessions, assess customer needs, and define solution blueprints and delivery estimates.
• Create and present technical solution decks, demos, prototypes, and RFP/RFI response content.
• Demonstrate platform thought leadership with clients, building confidence in delivery capability.
Technical Leadership & Governance
• Provide hands-on guidance to development teams; mentor engineers and enforce coding standards.
• Conduct design reviews, quality checks, and performance assessments.
• Define DevOps, CI/CD, and deployment strategies for multi-cloud commerce implementations.
Integration & Data Architecture
• Architect secure integrations with ERP, OMS, CRM, PIM, Payment, Tax, and Middleware platforms.
• Design data flow, synchronization models, and API standards (REST, GraphQL).
• Ensure compliance with data protection, authentication, and governance frameworks.
Performance, Scalability & Experience Optimization
• Optimize storefront speed, catalog performance, search capabilities, and browsing experience.
• Implement monitoring, diagnostics, and performance tuning for traffic spikes and peak seasons.
Project Lifecycle Delivery
• Engage throughout the SDLC—discovery, estimation, design, configuration/customization, testing, cutover, hypercare.
• Ensure technical deliverables meet business objectives, budget constraints, and timelines.

• Strong knowledge of Salesforce Commerce platforms:
• B2C Commerce (SFCC: OCAPI, SFRA)
• B2B Commerce (LWC, Apex, Experience Cloud)
• Salesforce OMS experience preferred
• Proven hands-on experience with Apex, LWC, SOQL, JavaScript, Commerce APIs.
• Expertise in data modeling, multi-site commerce configurations, pricing, promotions, and checkout flows.
• Cloud architecture (Salesforce, AWS, Azure) and DevOps tooling for CI/CD.
• Systems design skills including event-driven architecture, caching, and microservices.
• Strong understanding of e-commerce business processes: product management, cart/checkout, order fulfillment, customer experience, and omni-channel strategy.
• Ability to engage confidently with C-level and business stakeholders.
• Strong communication and documentation ability; persuasive presenter in pre-sales.
• Analytical problem-solver with strategic mindset.
Experience & Education
Benefits
• 8–12+ years in enterprise software delivery; minimum 5 years in commerce architecture roles.
• Experience as technical lead or senior developer in Salesforce ecosystem.
• Salesforce certifications highly desirable:
• B2C Solution Architect, B2B Commerce Architect, System/Technical Architect, Commerce Cloud Developer
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
