Job Summary
Abbott is seeking a Pharmacovigilance Specialist to support safety activities across the GEM cluster and Egypt. This role plays a key part in ensuring that all pharmacovigilance (PV) processes for Abbott Established Pharmaceuticals are compliant with internal standards and local regulatory requirements, while acting as a primary safety interface with health authorities.

Primary Responsibilities

Act as the local 24/7/365 pharmacovigilance contact point in the UAE.

Support the Senior PV Specialist – GEM in maintaining the Affiliate PV System Country Chapter, along with local procedures, forms, and templates.

Ensure PV business continuity planning and promptly report any disruptions that may impact regulatory compliance.

Receive, document, track, and reconcile safety information in line with PV requirements.

Conduct safety surveillance, including literature reviews and health authority website monitoring.

Prepare and contribute to local periodic safety reports and Risk Management Plans.

Manage regulatory submissions related to safety data.

Deliver basic pharmacovigilance training to local EPD staff.

Maintain PV records, archiving, and local product safety lists.

Coordinate out-of-office coverage for safety information intake.

Ensure PV compliance for local interventional and non-interventional studies.

Negotiate and implement local commercial PV and PV service agreements.

Support due diligence activities for product acquisitions or in-licensing.

Provide local PV compliance metrics and manage identified non-compliances.

Coordinate and support PV audits and inspections at the affiliate level.

Ensure vigilance compliance for Abbott EPD products, including medical devices and food supplements.
Role Scope & Accountability

Implement and maintain a compliant local PV system during ASR absences across GEM affiliates and Egypt.

Serve as the primary PV liaison with local health authorities.

Act as the PV point of contact for affiliate non-PV teams and Global PV headquarters.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate exchange of PV-relevant information.

Support regional or global PV projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education:

Degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or an equivalent qualification (preferred).
Experience & Skills:
-
Prior pharmacovigilance experience within a pharmaceutical company is preferred.

Working knowledge of local pharmacovigilance regulations.

Strong attention to detail and compliance-focused mindset.

Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

Good command of the English language.

Effective communication skills for engaging with internal teams and external authorities.
