Job Description: Senior Executive – Group Financial Accounting & Reporting

The Role

You will drive value for the company and its stakeholders by developing technically sound accounting strategies. This role balances day-to-day financial operations with high-level reporting, ensuring full compliance with both internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Closing & Control: Lead the monthly closing process, including the approval of journal entries, determination of expense provisions, and oversight of General Ledger (GL) health in compliance with SLAS/SLFRS.
Analysis & Reporting: Conduct in-depth variance and trend analysis (MOM); present actionable insights to senior management and prepare monthly performance/navigator reports.
Technical Accounting: Manage complex accounting areas—such as transponder fees, gratuity, and prepayments—and draft technical papers on new financial implications or standards.
Statutory Compliance & Audit: Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements. Serve as the primary liaison for auditors to resolve queries and finalize management letters.
Operational Oversight: Assign and monitor balance sheet clearing exercises, ensure timely bank/intercompany reconciliations, and optimize the provisioning process.
Leadership & Collaboration: Manage and motivate a team, conducting performance reviews and overseeing daily workflows. Support the tax team with Inland Revenue hearings and provide financial data for cost-reduction strategies.

Entry Requirements

Qualifications: Fully or partially qualified in CASL, ACCA, or CIMA.
Education: A degree in Finance or Accountancy from a recognized university.
Experience: 5–6 years of experience within the Audit or Mercantile sectors.
Preferred: Prior experience within a Big 4 audit firm is a significant advantage.
