The Role & Responsibilities

As a Modern Trade Executive, you will be at the forefront of our retail strategy, ensuring that our products are not only available but also prominently showcased to maximize consumer engagement. Your responsibilities will extend beyond simple sales execution, requiring you to act as a bridge between the company’s commercial strategy and on-ground retail execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieving Sales Targets: Execute sales plans to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual targets. This includes leveraging upselling and cross-selling opportunities to maximize revenue potential within assigned stores.
  • Merchandising & Store Compliance: Guide and monitor the merchandising team to ensure perfect store execution. This includes compliance with planograms, price alignment, promotional placement, and visibility standards to enhance customer experience.
  • Retailer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong professional relationships with store managers and retail staff. The goal is to secure additional product displays, secondary placements, and expanded promotional opportunities.
  • Territory Operations Management: Oversee stock availability, order processing, issue resolution, and territory reporting to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Promotional Campaign Execution: Support Key Account Managers in implementing centrally planned activities, including promotional campaigns, seasonal activations, and service-level agreements at the store level.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor competitor activity, gather insights on consumer buying behavior, and share actionable feedback with the commercial team to inform future strategies.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a blend of academic qualifications, relevant experience, and practical skills.

  • Educational Background: GCE A/L qualification is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or a Diploma in Sales/Marketing, will be considered an advantage.
  • Professional Experience: At least 2 years of front-line modern trade sales experience in the FMCG industry, with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory or executive capacity.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is essential for reporting and analysis.
  • Analytical & Negotiation Skills: The ability to evaluate sales data, understand retail dynamics, and negotiate effectively with retailers.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in English is required, while Tamil language skills will be considered an added advantage.
