The Role and Responsibilities

As a Business Development Executive, you will serve as a key driver of growth for HNBGI. This role demands a balance of strategic thinking, client relationship management, and sales execution. Your contributions will directly impact the company’s success and long-term sustainability.

Core Responsibilities:

  • New Business Generation
    Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned markets. Develop tailored approaches to engage potential clients and convert them into policyholders.
  • Lead Generation and Prospecting
    Conduct research to identify target customer segments, gather market intelligence, and utilize multiple channels such as networking, referrals, and community engagement to build a robust sales pipeline.
  • Account Management
    Build long-lasting relationships with existing clients by providing continuous support, ensuring timely renewals, and addressing inquiries or issues with professionalism and care.
  • Strategic Sales Planning
    Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with the company’s targets. Track progress against objectives and adjust plans to ensure consistent achievement of sales goals.
  • Market Research and Competitor Analysis
    Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer expectations. Provide insights that can help refine products, pricing, and customer service strategies.
  • Client Engagement and Satisfaction
    Ensure every client interaction reflects HNBGI’s commitment to customer service excellence. From the initial meeting to policy issuance and after-sales support, maintain a customer-first approach.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background
    A diploma or degree in Business Management, Marketing, Insurance, or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • New Business Development Skills
    Demonstrated ability to identify and convert opportunities into long-term business relationships. Candidates should be confident in approaching clients and skilled in consultative selling.
  • Lead Generation Experience
    Proven capability in generating qualified leads through various methods, including cold calling, networking, or digital platforms.
  • Business and Account Management Skills
    A track record of managing client accounts effectively, ensuring retention and customer satisfaction. Strong organizational skills are essential for handling multiple client portfolios.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to interact effectively with diverse clients and internal teams. Fluency in Sinhala and English is expected; knowledge of Tamil is a plus.
  • Teamwork and Independence
    Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues while also demonstrating the initiative to operate independently and meet personal targets.
  • Industry Experience
    Prior experience in the insurance sector is highly advantageous, though candidates from banking, financial services, or sales backgrounds will also be considered.
