The Course Coordinator will serve as the central point of contact for all matters related to course planning, scheduling, and delivery. This includes coordinating course materials, supporting faculty members, and assisting students throughout their academic journey. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of academic operations, student services, and quality assurance processes in the education sector.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
- Academic Coordination
- Oversee the scheduling of classes, ensuring efficient use of classrooms, facilities, and faculty availability.
- Coordinate with academic departments to confirm course outlines, learning outcomes, and assessment strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date course documentation, syllabi, and teaching materials in line with institutional requirements and accreditation standards.
- Student Support
- Act as the primary liaison between students and faculty for course-related inquiries.
- Address academic issues raised by students in a timely and respectful manner.
- Coordinate with student affairs to track academic progress, attendance, and performance.
- Faculty Support
- Work closely with teaching staff to ensure that lectures, tutorials, and assessments are well organized and adequately resourced.
- Collect and distribute course materials, handouts, and assessment rubrics.
- Assist in the onboarding process for new lecturers and visiting instructors, including orientation to course policies and academic expectations.
- Assessment Management
- Coordinate the preparation, scheduling, and distribution of examinations and coursework.
- Assist in organizing invigilators and venues for examinations.
- Ensure accurate and timely collection of grades and entry into institutional systems.
- Maintain academic integrity by following policies related to assessments, plagiarism, and misconduct.
- Quality Assurance
- Monitor course delivery to ensure compliance with academic standards and policies.
- Participate in curriculum review meetings and provide feedback based on student and faculty input.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of course evaluation data to support continuous improvement.
- Communication and Reporting
- Prepare regular reports on course enrollment, student performance, and academic issues for management.
- Ensure timely dissemination of academic calendars, schedules, and course updates to all stakeholders.
- Coordinate meetings and maintain accurate records of decisions made regarding academic delivery.
- Administrative Duties
- Support institutional audits and inspections by maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Manage academic databases and learning management systems relevant to course delivery.
- Handle routine correspondence and documentation related to course operations.
📚 Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Management, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Minimum of two years of experience in academic coordination, program administration, or student services.
- Familiarity with higher education processes, academic frameworks, and quality assurance requirements in Sri Lanka.
- Strong command of both English and Sinhala; Tamil proficiency is an added benefit.
